A New UN Resolution Zeroes In on Rape as a Weapon

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s highly visible campaign for women’s rights around the world found a stage at the Security Council last week, where she presided over the unanimous adoption of a resolution to combat sexual violence – including rape -- in armed conflict. Her chairmanship of the meeting not only ensured backing for the resolution, but also reflected her intention to keep the protection of women in focus and on the agenda in the United Nations.
